Mountfair Vineyards

Tucked away on the eastern slope of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Mountfair Vineyards produces high quality, small batch wines of the Bourdeaux varietals including Merlot, Cabernet, Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec.

Its location allows for breathtaking protected mountain views, and visitors will enjoy the quiet serenity of the surrounding pastoral beauty. Those who enjoy fine red wines will love touring this vineyard, a part of the well-known Monticello Wine Trail.

The mission of this artisanal winery is to produce superior quality wines that respect the land, and that work to build a relationship between the winemaker and the consumer. Each glass of Mountfair wine demonstrates the unique and distinctive characteristics of central Virginia’s teroir.

Mountfair emphasizes small lot viticulture in order to ensure that the fruit is of maximum intensity. Their careful cultivation of small lots of vines allows Mountfair to produce the richest wines. The vineyard keeps the batches small off the vines, as well, with small batch fermentation methods in order to allow for a more hands-on approach to the winemaking. Mountfair Vineyards is dedicated to sustainability, both as far as business practices are concerned, and as far as their effect on the environment.

Visitors will enjoy roaming free on Mountfair’s incredible property, exploring the rolling hills with a bottle of wine and a picnic lunch. On the weekends, wine tastings are available so that you can stop by and sample the vineyard’s excellent, rich red wines while taking in the view of the nearby Blue Ridge Mountains from the airy tasting room.

Just 20 minutes from Charlottesville, Mountfair is perfect for a romantic afternoon outing, or for a quiet picnic with friends and family on the lush lawns.
