Tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Afton Mountain Vineyards provides visitors with a taste of some of the best wine and most incredible scenery the state has to offer. No stranger to making wine, Afton is one of Virginia’s first farm wineries. With the original vines planed in the 1970s and the tasting room opened in 1991, Afton has been one of central Virginia’s most renowned vineyards for decades.

With high quality grapes grown on the estate, Afton Mountain Vineyards is able to produce small batch wines of unrivaled quality.

Part of the Monticello Wine Trail, Afton allows visitors to drink up the incredible 360 degree mountain views while enjoying the carefully crafted, award-winning wines. Afton’s wines have become increasingly well known as more and more national and international competitions have recognized the vineyard for its excellence.

Afton Mountain Vineyards specializes in Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. The vineyard also makes several more unique wines that make adventurous wine connoisseurs into dedicated customers. These wines include a sparkling wine made in the methode champenoise as well as Gewurztraminer, a super-Tuscan red blend.

For those looking to experience all that Afton has to offer, the vineyard regularly hosts events, some of which are open to the public. These events include monthly “Afton After Hours” at which live music and food prepared by a local restaurant are enjoyed. At the wine club at Afton Mountain Vineyards, light hors d’oeuvres and award-winning wine are enjoyed as the sun sets over the Blue Ridge Mountains.
