Seven Oaks is a property of immense historic significance and grandeur. Not only is it listed as a Virginia Historic Landmark, but it is also on the National Register of Historic Places. The property was purchased by Alexander Garrett, the first Bursar at the University of Virginia, in 1819. It is believed that it was at this time that the 7 oak trees, for which the property is named, were planted. Each oak tree was named after a Virginia President, however, in 1954 a hurricane managed to destroy poor Thomas Jefferson.
