Flying Fox Vineyard

Flying Fox Vineyard is a treasure tucked away in the heart of Nelson County wine country. After years of perfecting their grapes, Flying Fox recently began producing its own high-quality wine in small batches.

Their limited production wines include Viognier, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. A small, family-fun winery, Flying Fox is dedicated to producing delicious, rich wines that showcase the flavorful fruit.

Flying Fox’s six and a half acre vineyard is dedicated to red varieties, namely Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The grapes for the white wine produced at Flying Fox, Viognier and Pinot Gris, are grown at Ridge Run Vineyard in Stuart’s Draft.

Both Flying Fox and Ridge Run manage their vines to be low yield so that the fruit is of maximum intensity. Flying Fox aims to create small batches of wine from the most intense, delicious fruit possible so that every bottle has the most desirable characteristics of the terroir. Because of this, a bottle of wine from Flying Fox is a very special treat for anyone who enjoys incredibly high-quality wine.

Rotating art exhibits by various local guest artists paired with stunning 360 degree views of the nearby mountains mean visitors are never short of visual stimulation. In the winter, the tasting room’s roaring fireplace encourages to linger, while the shady patio has the same effect during warmer months. No matter the season, Flying Fox gives visitors the perfect escape from a busy week at work.

Whether you’re in search of a new place to enjoy a glass of wine and views of the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains or you happen to be traveling through Nelson, Flying Fox Vineyard is a must-see.
