Doukenie Winery

Tucked away in the foothills of the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains on the edge of northern Virginia’s renowned wine country, Doukenie Winery offers the perfect place to escape the chaos of daily life. The wine is carefully crafted by hand in small batches to ensure that each and every glass is of the high caliber for which Doukenie is recognized.

Whether you want to learn more about the art of wine production on a tour of the facility or are looking for a place to unwind and sip an unforgettable glass of wine while enjoying a drive through some of this country’s most beautiful countryside, Doukenie Winery has something for everyone.

Since every good glass of wine begins with good grapes, Doukenie carefully harvests the most flavorful fruit its vineyards have to offer. Virginia’s unique terroir produces some of the most intense, delicious grapes to be found, and as a result, Doukenie keeps its wine simple in order to showcase the magnificent fruit from which it is crafted.

The winery has become well known for producing food-friendly wine that can be enjoyed by the casual drinker and the wine connoisseur alike.

Doukenie grows and bottles white, red, and dessert wines. The white wines are Viognier, Riesling, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Mandolin, and Sauvignon Blanc. The red wines are “Le Vin Rouge”—a wine for everyday, “Dionysus”—a wine for very special occasions, Merlot, Sangiovese, Syrah, Zeus, Cabernet, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot. The current dessert wine is Hope’s Legacy Rasperry.

Visitors enjoying a glass of wine in the tasting room quickly understand why the experts rave about Doukenie Winery. Since 2006, Doukenie Winery has consistently won awards at national and international competitions such as the Vineyard and Winery Management Grand Harvest Wine Competition and the San Francisco Chronicle International Wine Competition. The winery has also been recognized in Wine Enthusiast Buying Guide for six of its wines. In 2013 alone, Doukenie took home seven silver and nine bronze medals.

In the tasting room, visitors can enjoy gourmet cheeses, carefully selected to accompany the wines. Just a short drive from DC, guests quickly forget the fast pace of their day-to-day lives and slow down to meet the quiet, steady pace of the world around them. Whether you’re looking for a place to stop while on a Sunday afternoon drive or a place to gather friends and family for a relaxing, fun few hours, Doukenie will provide an unforgettable experience.
