Within the system there is the top high school in the state, and the third nationally ranked: Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology. The students at this school were tested and proved 100% of the student body was proficient in math and science, and every single AP test was passed. Pretty impressive. That is not the only school to measure up, the top 20 high schools were all at least 80% proficient in math and science – the majority of them 90% plus.
The Public School System has many other great opportunities, including magnet schools, high school academies and English as a second language programs. They are dedicated to talented and committed teachers, a rigorous curriculum that has been developed to meet and exceed state standards, classrooms and facilities that have been designed to promote learning.
In addition to public schools there are a number of private schools that are also an option for parents who seek to look into all the available opportunities. There are also a number of preschools and daycares for the little ones who are under 5. The Boyd School received 4.5 stars on Google, a preschool on Oak Street.
