868 Estate Vineyards
One of Northern Virginia’s newest destination vineyards, 868 Estate Vineyards opened in 2012 with a mission to craft high quality, small batch wines from locally grown fruit. 868 Estate offers visitors the winning combination of breathtaking scenery, delicious wines, and elegant dining.
The property boasts the highest elevation in the valley between the Short Hills and the Blue Ridge Mountains at 868 feet. This unique location makes the 360-degree views of the nearby mountain ranges and the valley below stunning and unforgettable. Just an hour from Washington, DC, 868 Estate Vineyards offers the perfect getaway: serenity, incredible mountain views, and delicious wine to suit any mood.
868 Estate combines old-world traditions with leading edge wine technology to produce some of the most incredible wine in the state. The winemaker uses meticulous care in each aspect of the winemaking process to ensure that the wine is rich and flavorful and reflects the terroir of Northern Virginia.
The estate boasts 120 acres on which visitors are free to roam. After selecting their favorite wines in the tasting room, guests are welcome to sit outside on the beautifully landscaped patio or explore the extensive property to find the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine and a picnic. Families are welcome to explore the property with their leashed dogs, as well.
Each award winning wine crafted at 868 Estate is designed to be food-friendly and delicious, an idea that can be tested in the winery’s on-site full service Grandale Restaurant. Named one of Northern Virginia’s Top 50 Restaurants, Grandale carefully pairs its food with wine that will complement and enhance the flavors. Grandale specializes in fine dining and catered events, and the food is prepared with fresh, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.
The vineyard, which is dedicated to sustainable growing practices, currently has 10 acres of grapes and hopes to expand with time. Right now, 868 Estate is growing Charonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnel, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Vidal Blanc. The wine selection in the tasting room includes wines from the Revolution and 868 Estate Vineyards brands, both of which are produced by 868 Estate’s renowned winemaker, Carl DiManno.
