Madison County Fly-Fishing in Virginia

Madison County fly-fishing is legendary thanks to the Rapidan River, the most famous wild trout stream in the Commonwealth with special regulations: catch-and-release, artificial, barbless, single-hook lures only. Many fly-anglers fish for native brook trout along this beautiful river and end up at Rapidan Camp, the summer retreat established by President and Mrs. Herbert Hoover.

The Rose River, another stream within the boundaries of the Shenandoah National Park, also offers excellent trout fishing. Websites and fly-fishing guidebooks are full of information on the native trout that inhabit the cool waters that flow in the dark mountain hollows of the region.
